Texas Instruments (TI) today introduced the industry's smallest 16-bit Δ-Σ analog to digital converter (ADC), the converter integrates a programmable gain amplifier (PGA), a reference voltage, a temperature sensor and 4-input multiplexer.
The ADS1118 measures only 2 mm x 1.5 mm, compared with the industry's existing ADC other than the same type of 16 to 65% smaller.
In the range of 0 °C to 65 °C temperature range, ADS1118 can ensure the realization of the direct linear measurement of less than 0.5 °C uncalibrated error, compared with competing solutions, the performance of the sharp rise of 75%.
In addition, it called the industry's lowest power 16-bit ADC, supports built-in internal reference, can support up to 860 samples per second data rate.
