    SP series logic analyzers compress and stream captured signals via USB 2.0 to a Windows, Linux or MacOS machine. USB bandwidth can be variable from a system to another, and is practically limited to 20MB/s. That's why SP logic analyzers have an embedded 2Gb DDR-3 memory that buffers captured samples at 1.6GB/s, overcoming USB limitations.

    SP209(i) logic analyzer relies on ScanaStudio software to configure a capture, and visualize captured logic signals. ScanaStudio software is also used to decode most serial communication protocols. An important particularity of ScanaStudio ecosystem is that all protocol decoders are open source. That means that new decoders are added regularly, and existing decoders are updated thanks to feedback from the 10K+ users of ScanaStudio.
